Completing a village in Uganda for 250 AIDS orphans ($200,000 from Offering #4)

Global Orphan Project LogoIf we respond with generosity through The Crazy Love Campaign, Long Hollow will build two entire “villages” where 600 orphaned and abandoned children will live. The first will be in Haiti. We hope construction can begin in October and the first orphans pulled off the streets by early next year. The village should be filled with all 300 kids by next summer! The second orphan village for another 300 kids will be funded next fall and will likely be built in a country in Africa.

A Children’s Village Includes:

A man playing with orphan childrenCHURCH -  The cornerstone of the village is a local indigenous church. We are partnering with a carefully selected and reliable local church to own the village and day-to-day care of the children.

30 HOMES -  Instead of giant homes where scores of kids all live together, our kids will live family-style in small, relevant, eco-friendly children’s homes. The homes are typical in the community and care is set up to be acceptable to local standards, not Americanized or artificially inflated.

SCHOOL -  Our school there will be not only for the orphans to attend but also for hundreds of other children who live in the surrounding areas.

CLINIC -  Basic healthcare is essential in this impoverished country. Basic treatment for sickness and disease, immunizations, dental and eye care, and more, will be provided.

KITCHEN -  A central kitchen will prepare the meals for all the kids and the adult caregivers.

LATRINES -  Pit bathrooms and simple showers are provided for the village.

FRESH WATER WELL -  A hand-pumped well will be dug that will provide fresh water for the entire village.

SELF-SUSTAINMENT -  Local agricultural and economic development is essential to move the village to self-sustainment in three years.
